Life

What are your reflections on life?

As a child, time seemed to crawl, especially when anticipating Christmas or my birthday. I cherished the ‘happy birthday!’ phone calls (back in the days when there was no WhatsApp or internet) and eagerly awaited the gifts. In the 1990s, time moved slower, although I’m unsure if it was only a personal perception.

Now, as I look back, time has quickly advanced to the year 2024. Life appears to unfold in distinct blocks of time and actions: the early school years, another school phase, college experiences, friendships from both the neighborhood and university, family gatherings, the silly things I did and said, the moments that i laughed a lot, and the dreams I once had. I don’t categorize these memories as strictly good or bad; rather, they resemble chapters in a book I’ve been reading. It’s clear that some details have faded from my memory.

These chapters resemble different stories featuring various characters, yet they are a patchwork of countless days and decisions that have shaped me. A handcrafted combination of values, choices, contexts, and the people who have left an impact. It is unpredictable to see where we are going…

I imagine us as rivers: on the surface, we may appear unchanged over the years, but each day brings subtle differences from the one before.

About the Drawing:

This animal (yet to be named) stands just staring at all the way he needs to go through. There’s no clear answer regarding the best path, and he doesn’t know who he will meet on the way.

The choice of colors influences the mood, as warm hues in this drawing offer a particular perspective. It mirrors how we often perceive life based on our mindset, that has already a specific color palette to view the world. I’ve also created a version of this drawing in cool colors, and you can imagine how it evokes different feelings for our little friend. Mountains, clouds, the moon—everything is there, yet the way each element is perceived and interpreted – the colors used to paint the world – is highly personal.

What colors do you use to see the world?
