In March 2025, the book O menino disse mar, written by Rogerio Alves and illustrated by me, Bia Watanabe, was released by Editora Palavras, based in São Paulo, Brazil.

It’s a project that began in 2024, inspired by a poem about a boy who is asked what the biggest word in the world is… and that poem turned into a picture book illustrated through my interpretation of the story.

As for the technical side, I did all the sketches on paper first, and then everything was completed in Procreate. I really enjoy starting ideas on yellow-toned paper with a 2B pencil, before moving on to the endless possibilities of the digital world.
