Sloth Studies and Drawing

This drawing depicts a sloth, very cozy in her bedroom, reading a book. The purpose of this study was to observe how light enters through the window and interacts with the foreground, middle ground, and background. The first image displays a rough sketch study with a limited color palette to see the values in the scene. It served as a quick exercise to assess whether this drawing could effectively capture the interaction of light and shadow.

Then, with this scheme ready, I started to paint the layers of this drawing in Procreate, attempeting to preserve the values identified earlier. Finally, light rays and subtle dust particles were added to the image using the Gaussian Blur tool.

It would be possible to adjust this scene by varying the amount of light entering through the window to observe changes in its overall mood. It also would be possible to change the colors of light and shadows to see new interactions and moods. Light, shadows and colors will follow the intentions aimed for this scene. =)
